Quebec's Children Study

Modeling trajectories of health, social services and education service use and associations with health and education problems for Quebec children, from a longitudinal and population perspective

Specific objectives:

      1. Describe the profile of service users according to socio-economic, geographic, migration and citizenship criteria.
      2. To study the associations between the use of health, social and education services and health and education problems during four developmental periods: 0-5 years, 6-10 years, 11-15 years and 16-18 years.
      3. Test hypotheses concerning timing (e.g., the moment/age of intervention), dosage (e.g., how many sessions are offered), and service stability (e.g., variety of services) on health issues.
      4. All analyses will take account of the child’s gender, either through interactions between gender and services, or through gender-stratified analyses.

Population studied:

Children born between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2023 with at least one day of RAMQ registration during this period. Individuals will be selected from RAMQ’s Fichier d’inscription des personnes assurées (FIPA). All service delivery regions of Quebec (18 regions) will be included in order to have population coverage. The database will include data on the 88,000 to 90,000 children born in Quebec each year, as well as all children arriving in Quebec during childhood (immigrants, refugees, etc.). The administrative data of around 1.5 million children will be included in this database.
